AU COIN DES ARBRES – GUIDED WALKING HOLIDAYS

Spring and Autumn in the Dordogne are glorious times to come to enjoy the beautiful countryside for a walking break. The temperatures are generally similar to a pleasant summer day in northern Europe. Nature comes to life here in spring with many resident and migratory birds active in the area. In autumn the woodlands are spectacular with vibrant colours, mushrooms and the astonishing stag rutting (brame du cerf)
Au Coin Des Arbres is situated directly on the GR36 (if you are feeling energetic you can follow it from Normandy to the Pyrenees and we will give you a free night here for your efforts!) Aditionally, there are many local circular walks of different lengths and challenge. These take in some stunning scenery along with sites of historical, gastronomic and cultural interest.
We actively welcome walkers, cyclists and nature watchers and we can accommodate groups, couples and single people (with private bedrooms but shared living spaces and bathrooms). You are welcome to head out on your own, be advised by us on good local walks or even take up our guiding service if you want a more personalised introduction to the area.
Tony and Lisa are undergoing training ready for the 2023 season and will be able to teach Nordic Walking. This is an excellent way to exercise your entire body, improve cardio-vasculaire fitness, increase your walking range and reduce joint impact. Our introductory course fully explains how to use the poles and gives you a personal video analysis to correct any problems. We then set out on a practice walk during which we will both watch carefully to ensure you perfect your technique. We provide a range of pole lengths for the course and to hire. If you enjoy the experience you can buy them from us at the end of your stay.
Nordic walking engages 90% of your body in motion, so that means you are working out the entire body. Because the walking poles spread the stress around the muscles and joints of both upper and lower body, you are less likely to injure an ankle or your backand lower body, you are less likely to injure an ankle or your back

NORDIC WALKING

Lisa and Tony are qualified to teach Nordic Walking techniques and we will provide an introductory morning course which fully explains how to use the poles and gives you a personal video analysis to correct and problems. We then set out on an afternoon practice walk during which we will both watch carefully to ensure you perfect your technique.
Nordic Walking has so many health and fitness benefits, particularly for people of a certain age! The poles and the technique are very different from standard walking sticks and based on the principle that the walker recruits upper body strength to increase propulsion, reduce stress on lower limb joints. A good Nordic Walk provides a complete body workout with great aerobic exercise while enabling you to walk further and faster.
We provide a range of pole lengths for the course and to hire. If you enjoy the experience you can buy them from us at the end of your stay.
