Getting to Au Coin des Arbres
We are located in the peaceful rural countryside, where a car is essential for making the most of your stay. Public transport is very limited, but our location is easily accessible by air, rail, and road.
Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport (EGC): This is our closest airport, just a 40-minute drive away. It is well-served by airlines such as Ryanair, British Airways, and Jet2.com, with seasonal routes from many UK cities including London, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Liverpool.
Bordeaux (BOD) & Toulouse (TLS) Airports: For a wider range of international flights, the major airports at Bordeaux and Toulouse are both approximately two hours away by car.
The French high-speed TGV train makes rail travel simple. The easiest route is from Paris to Bordeaux (approx. 2 hours), followed by a 1-hour local train (TER) to Bergerac. Alternatively, TGV services from Paris Montparnasse to Agen are also an option. Car hire is readily available at Bergerac station for the final 45-minute drive to our gîtes.

Château de Biron (2 km):
Just a 2km walk from your gîte stands the majestic Château de Biron. This historic monument, with 1,000 years of history, is one of the largest castles in the region. Explore its unique blend of medieval and Renaissance architecture, view stunning art exhibitions, and take in the breathtaking panoramic views from its ramparts.
Monpazier (10 min drive):
Discover Monpazier, officially one of “The Most Beautiful Villages in France”. Founded in 1284, it is considered the most perfect example of a medieval bastide town. Lose yourself in its grid of ancient streets and admire the stunning Place des Cornières, a central square surrounded by 23 original stone-arcaded houses and a 15th-century market hall.
Local Markets & Vineyards:
Live like a local by visiting the region’s famous markets. Don’t miss the 700-year-old Thursday market in Monpazier , the lively Saturday market in Villeréal, or the world-famous Sunday market in Issigeac. In summer, enjoy the marchés gourmands (evening food markets) in Biron itself. For wine lovers, you can visit the local organic vineyard Domaine de la Tuque for a tasting, or explore the wider Bergerac & Duras wine routes just a short drive away.
The Great Valleys (30 min drive):
Our location is the perfect strategic base, sitting just 30 minutes between the two great rivers: the Dordogne and the Lot. You are just a short drive from the region’s most famous attractions, including canoeing on the Dordogne, swimming at riverside beaches, and visiting iconic cliffside villages like Beynac and La Roque-Gageac.
On Foot from Your Gîte:
From your doorstep, you can enjoy a pleasant 2 km walk to the local village of Biron. It features the magnificent Château, a small shop (épicerie), and a bistro for a quiet meal or drink.
